Wendy’s would have been smart to lose the red onion slices, too. Some fancified new burgers are three times the price and overloaded with bacon, imported cheese, and produce - it’s hard to taste (or find) the beef. The Double Stack is a fistful - a stripped-down, nothing fancy, really good burger, where beef is the star attraction and condiments and toppings are kept bare bones. Yes, these patties are square, just like Wendy’s big boy burgers. The Double Stack is the only sandwich in the bargain bundle that features two patties made with Wendy’s flagship, never frozen, North American beef.
